Rola berberyny w terapii otyłości i zaburzeń metabolicznych

Streszczenie

Berberyna (BBR, C20,H18NO4) to alkaloid izochinolinowy naturalnie występujący w wielu gatunkach roślin, między innymi berberysie zwyczajnym (Berberis vulgaris L.). Berberyna posiada właściwości przeciwutleniające oraz przeciwzapalne, poprawia wykładniki gospodarki węglowodanowej i lipidowej. Jest szczególnie ceniona za efekt insulinouwrażliwiający. Dane naukowe podkreślają korzystny efekt suplementacji BBR u chorych na cukrzycę, z otyłością hiperlipidemią oraz niealkoholową stłuszczeniową chorobą wątroby. Wielokierunkowe działanie BBR oraz jej rola w obniżaniu ryzyka rozwoju chorób sercowo-naczyniowych i metabolicznych, przemawiają za koniecznością podejmowania dalszych, szeroko zakrojonych badań.
