Poczet Członków Honorowych Polskiego Towarzystwa Nefrologicznego. Część XXV — Doktor Irena Marcinek
Abstract
The previous paper published by the members of the Historical Section of the Polish Society of Nephrology (PTN) within the series on the honorary members of the PTN featured the renowned Slovak nephrologist, a devoted friend to Poland and Poles — professor Miroslav Mydlik. The current, 25th publication in the series concerns, for the first time, a person who was not a nephrologist, and yet, thanks to a different kind of achievements than the previous characters of our publications, received this honourable title, being the greatest distinction the Society has at its disposal. In this case, it is Dr. Irena Marcinek, a representative of the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, responsible, inter alia, for the development of dialysis treatment in Poland. A large group of more experienced and mature nephrologists, especially those involved in dialysis treatment, remember I. Marcinek for her efforts to develop this relatively young medical field, for her openness to all the difficult problems encountered at that time and not least for her great kindness and willingness to help each one of us. For this reason, the nature of the publication will be slightly different from the previous ones in this series.
