Abstract

The paper presents the case of a 60-year-old, long-term tobacco smoker, after completed treatment of lung cancer, with chronic respiratory insufficiency and severe COPD, who presented severe dyspnea. An additional diagnosis, that was made during the care, was invasive pulmonary aspergillosis. It is commonly believed that cancer is the most debilitating disease of the patient, and its cure guarantees a return to health and normal life. In this case, however the effectiveness of oncological treatment was not correlated with good quality of life. Severe dyspnea was associated with chronic respiratory failure in the course of severe COPD and was accompanied by an invasive pulmonary aspergillosis.
