Abstract
The problem of nutrition disorders affects most patients with cancer. Prevention and treatment of malnutrition is dependent on the stage of the disease and the patient’s requirements. Doctor’s task is the assessment of nutrition status, treatment of malnutrition, and monitoring the effectiveness and safety of the treatment. It is worth remembering that patient can derive great benefits from an appropriate nutrition and from professional nutritionist care. Effective treatment can be carried out in the hospital as well as at patient’s home. Prevention and treatment of nutrition disorders can significantly improve the patient’s condition and the course of oncological treatment and best supportive care. Therefore, the problem of an appropriate nutrition should be considered in every patient with cancer.
