Abstract
Viral hepatitis E belongs to the category of new emerging infections. Most common is the oral route of transmission. but the virus can also be transmitted with transfused blood components. The paper presents basic epidemiological and clinical data on HEV infection with particular emphasis on the significance of infection for blood treatment.
