Abstract

Sport is an integral therapy part of diabetes mellitus. Because of its systemic action it has many positive effects such as normalization of lipid balance and fibrinolitic activity of plasma, lowering the risk of microangiopathy, reducing of blood pressure and strengthening of the osteoarticular system. Regular physical activity ensures regulated body mass, appropriate glicemic levels and lowers the levels of stress and discomfort caused by a chronic disease therefore improving well-being. This article presents athletes who have succeeded at a global level regardless of diabetes.
