MAS — middle aortic syndrome as a cause of arterial hypertension
Nadciśnienie tętnicze 2012;16(6):331-337.
Abstract
Renovascular hypertension is one of many causes of secondary
hypertension. Disorder of renal blood flow leads to
impaired perfusion of kidney, it activates RAA system, and
increases blood pressure. Middle aortic syndrome which is
a rare cause of secondary hypertension depends on segmental
narrow that is possible in each level. About 60%
cases of the MAS reasons remain unknown. The leading
symptom of MAS is resistant hypertension. Further results
of untreated middle aortic syndrome are complications of
high blood pressure. The treatment includes a pharmacotherapy
and/or surgery interventions. In this paper, the
etiology, epidemiology, pathogenesis and methods of treatment
of MAS are presented.
