Selected risk factors for cardiovascular diseases and periodontitis — obesity, hypertension
Nadciśnienie tętnicze 2011;15(5):317-321.
Abstract
Periodontitis is one of the most common disease of humans.
Many studies have shown that periodontitis may
be an important risk factor for cardiovascular disorders.
In the article, the impact of periodontitis on selected risk
factors for cardiovascular disorders (obesity, hypertension)
has been described, on the basis of recent literature.
It seems that there are some mutual and not fully understood
interdependencies between periodontitis, waist circumference
(WC) and hypertension.
The debate about whether periodontitis is a risk factor correlated with other risk factors for cardiovascular disorders is interesting, but not resolved.
