Comparison between British (NICE) and Polish (PTNT) guidelines regarding management of hypertension in adults
Nadciśnienie tętnicze 2011;15(6):329-334.
Abstract
The first NICE hypertension guidelines were issued in 2004 and updated in June 2006 and 2011. The new, simple document
lists key priorities, provides a care pathway, and encompasses different ways to measure and diagnose hypertension,
assess risk and target-organ damage, use lifestyle and drug interventions, and educate patients. The 2011 guidelines are the first in the world to formally recommend ambulatory
blood-pressure monitoring (ABPM) as a “key priority” in diagnosis of hypertension. Polish hypertension guidelines recommend individualization of antihypertensive treatment and
encourage to use definite antihypertensive agents.
