New Guidelines for the Management of Arterial Hypertension - VII Report of Joint National Committee and The Guidelines of the European Society of Hypertension-European Society of Cardiology
Nadciśnienie tętnicze 2003;7(2):99-104.
Abstract
The aim of this review is to compare two recently published documents presenting new guidelines for the management of arterial hypertension. These two documents were prepared by the Joint National Committee (JNC VII
Report), and by the European Society of Hypertension together with the European Society of Cardiology (ESH-ESC guidelines). Both the JNC VII Report and ESH-ESC guidelines incorporated results of recent large randomized controlled trials and their meta-analyses. The current review presents similarities and differences between the JNC VII Report and ESH-ESC guidelines regarding classification of hypertension, diagnostic evaluation, risk stratification and therapeutic approach in patients with hypertension.
