Primary hyperaldosteronism as a reason of malignant, resistant hypertension in forty-years old women, treated by laparoscopic resection of adrenal tumor
Nadciśnienie tętnicze 2006;10(5):403-405.
Abstract
Primary hyperaldosteronism is one of the rarest causes of
secondary hypertension. Idiopathic bilateral adrenal hyperplasia
and aldosterone-producing adrenal adenoma are
the leading causes of primary hyperaldosteronism. In this
article the case of a 40-year-old woman, suffering for few
months from pharmacologically resistant hypertension, is
reported. The diagnostic process revealed an adrenal adenoma.
If lateralization is confirmed, the unilateral adrenalectomy
is the best therapeutic option, leading to a significant
reduction of blood pressure and even to normotension.
