Nadciśnienie tętnicze 2007;11(6):473-482.
Abstract
Atherosclerotic renal artery stenosis (ARAS) is an important
and common clinical manifestation of systemic atherosclerosis.
The clinical implications of ARAS include arterial
hypertension, irreversible impairment of renal function
and recurrent flash pulmonary edema. The aim of
this article is to discuss: 1) the efficiency of two principal
therapeutic approaches in ARAS - renal artery
revascularization and pharmacological (conservative)
treatment; 2) clinical evaluation of patients with ARAS;
3) factors that are important in the choice of optimal treatment.
