Abstract

Sexual dysfunctions are a wide-spread disorders and also they are a critical reason for deterioration of quality of life both patients and their sexual partners. Obesity, hypertension and diabetes are main etiological factors for sexual dysfunction in both sexes: men’s low libido and erectile dysfunction and women’s low libido and poor lubrication. Patients’ own assessment of sexual attractiveness is most strongly associated with weight loss. According to research a weight loss of approximately 10% improved significantly sexual satisfaction. Medicines used in antihypertensive treatment may induce disturbances in physiological mechanism of erection and cause difficulties in sexual intercourse. Older generation drugs used in antihypertensive therapy negatively affect the quality of erection, however the ones from the new generations are either neutral or may positively influence men’s erectile efficiency.
