Abstract
People with disabilities experience a number of difficulties connected with their sex life. It is due, among other
reasons, to insufficient sexual education, too few adaptation models, not enough rehabilitation or integration
that put emphasis on building a quality of life in that area. One of the proposed solutions is the introduction of
the profession of a sexual assistant. Despite the fact that many countries already have trained professionals
working in that capacity, there are still many doubts, controversies and speculations connected with this
topic. The aim of this study is to present situations and the functioning of the sexual assistants in different
countries, and pointing out the benefits and limitations involved in such a profession.
