Sexual dysfunction — approach based on cognitive theory

Justyna Oettingen
Seksuologia Polska 2013;11(2).

Abstract

The aim of this article is to present a cognitive model of sexual dysfunction which serves as a description of a mechanism that sustains a sexual problem and influences its durability. The author conducts an overview of classic theoretical concepts regarding sexual dysfunctions and the results of current research in the field. Drawing from the data, the author formulates an innovative integrated model and proposes complementing the sexual dysfunction cognitive model with the stress self-evaluation factor by utilizing the stress self-coping interactive model developed by Wrzesniewski.
