The assesment of men sexual behavior during the first 9 months after myocardial infarction

Abstract

Introduction. Erectile dysfunction is highly prevalent in myocardial infarction patients. The aim of the study was
to assess men sexual behavior during the first 9 months after myocardial infarction.
Material and methods. 62 men were asked during the control visit to fill anonymous questionnaire containing
questions about sexual activity, and behavior after myocardial infarction. The control visit took place during the
first 9 months after myocardial infarction.
Results. About 84% of men are not afraid of their health due to sexual activity. 25% of partners are afraid of partner’s
health due to sexual activity. About 98% of men think that is good that this study was performed. About 90% of men
think that doctors are able to talk to patients about sexual problems. About 53% of men heard about Viagra, but
they think that they are not allowed to take this drug because of myocardial infarction. About 22,5% of men are in
bad mental condition. The same percentage of analyzed men noticed that their partner avoids sexual intercourses.
Conclusions.
1. Patients are not afraid of their health due to sexual activityafter myocardial infarction.
2. Most partners are not afraid of partner’s health due to sexual activity.
3. Most men think that doctors are able to talk to patients about sexual problems.
