The influence of cancer on female patients’ relations with their spouses, and family life

Abstract

The results of research prove that the satisfactory relationships that are the source of social support, are the essential condition pf psychological well-being. Moreover such relations are proven to be the buffer that protects from negative psychological and physiological outcomes of stress. Relationships that provide social support are the most important for people facing stressful life events, like for example being diagnosed with cancer. There are many researches on the sources of support and kinds of social support expected by women suffering from cancer. But there are still very few researches on the psychological well-being of ones, who provide such support. This article is aiming for presentation of the results of research on psychological state of female cancer patients’ spouses, coping strategies used by them and its effectiveness.
