Neurogenic erictile dysfunction caused by diseases and damages of spinal cord

Abstract

Under the diseases and damages of spinal cord comes to series of sexual dysfunctions including erectile dysfunctions. Among other things it’s caused by the break off of the nervous passage conducting from the erection center in brain (limbic system, temporal lobe, the medical pre-optic area and the paraventricular nucleus of hypothalamus) to the erection center in the spinal cord.
Erectile dysfunctions means the inability to achive and/or keep penile erection, it makes impossible to have satisfactional sexual life. There are three erection types marked out: psychogenical, instinctive and nightly.
Under the diseases and damages of spinal cord there are psychogenical erectile dysfunctions (the damage of nervous passage conducting impulses from erection centers in brain) as well as instinctive erectile dysfunctions, where the touchable stimuluses, which provocate the penile and crotch skin are conducted to the spinal cord, from where they come back to penis.
Under the diseases and damages of spinal cord, erectile dysfunctions occurs more often then under the brain diseases and damages. These dysfunctions are very often the first and the only one symptom of such damage. The coexistion of sexual dysfunctions and dysfunctions of the constrictors prognosis badly.
