Red ribbons of neonates. Visible symptom of one of the most frequent nowadays superstitons connected with human sexuality

Abstract

Superstitions connected with human sexuality are very common in polish customs. One of the most frequent symptoms are visible in the neonates red clothes or ribbons. The aim of this study was to examine the origin and the prevalence of the superstition. During the years: 2007-2009 within 7838 neonates we observed 1395 cases of “red ribbons” superstition that was 17.8%.
