Abstract

Introduction. We analyzed the occurrence of the ancient halfvirginity and modern petting concluding that they present the same phaenomenon.
Material and methods. The study included a group of 654 respondents devided into the subgroups at the age of 12–14 years, 15–17 years, 18–20 years.
Results. Active realisation of petting was declared by 66.81% of participants. This form of sexual activity was perceived as positive by 61.46% of the egzamined persons.
Conclusions. Ultimately analyzing the examples of the halfvirginity and petting we concluded that there is nihil novi in sexuality. The differences between the old and the modern is found only in nomenclature, and the limits of social toleration.
