Cognitive-behavioral therapy versus sexual dysfunction

Abstract

The aim of this article is to present the results of the latest study concerning to the effectiveness of applying the methods of cognitive-behavioral therapy in treating sexual disorders. In recent years cognitive-behavioral therapy has become one of the leading and most thoroughly researched therapeutic method. In addition to numerous studies confirming efficacy in treating psychiatric disorders such as PTSD, phobias, neurosis or affective disorders, in recent years, there are increasingly frequent reports describing the effectiveness of the application of cognitive-behavioral therapy in treating sexual disorders. Based on the analysis of foreign scientific reports and his own experience, the author of the article wants to point out areas (specific disorders), in which cognitive-behavioral therapy may be applicable.
