Honorary Members of The Polish Society of Nephrology. Part XXIX — Professor Alexander Davison
Forum Nefrologiczne 2020;13(1):48-52.
Abstract
With this paper we start the eighth consecutive year of presenting renowned figures in the world of nephrology who enjoy the title of an Honorary Member of the Polish Society of Nephrology. Throughout 37 years of its existence, this highest-in-rank distinction has been granted by the Society to 80 remarkable individuals, both from Poland and abroad, who greatly contributed to the development of the Society itself and the medical specialty of nephrology. As we have repeatedly mentioned, the first person to receive this honourable title was the first President of the Polish Society of Nephrology, prof. Tadeusz Orłowski, the outstanding Polish internist, nephrologist and transplantologist. In the previous publication we presented the figure of another great Polish nephrologist, internist and endocrinologist, the nearly-legendary prof. Franciszek Kokot, the long-standing Head of the Clinic of Nephrology, Endocrinology and Metabolic Disturbances. Now, the 29th part is an attempt to depict the next foreign outstanding nephrologist, doctor and researcher — the Scottish prof. Alexander Davison. A. Davison developed his professional career in Leeds, England. His career path includes the position of the President of the European Renal Association — European Dialysis and Transplant Association (ERA-EDTA). He has greatly contributed to the development of nephrology in Central-Eastern Europe including Poland.
