Restless legs syndrome in peritoneal dialysis patient — case study
Abstract
Sleeping disorders, including restless legs syndrome (RLS), are a common problem in the general population as well as in dialyzed patients. RLS is a neurological disorder which is characterized by the urge to move the lower limbs, especially during rest. Complex patomechanism of this disorder has not been fully elucidated, but it has been established that kidney disease is associated with secondary RLS. This paper describes the patient on peritoneal dialysis who presented symptoms of RLS long before onset of kidney disease and completely disappeared after successful deceased-donor renal transplantation.
