The problem of kidney failure after heart transplantation — the role of nurses

Abstract

Heart transplantation is an accepted and effective method of therapeutic treatment of end-stage heart disease. The condition is affected by time of the graft transplantation, as with the passage of time increases the risk of developing serious diseases such as chronic renal insufficiency, graft vascular disease, or cancer. Kidney failure after heart transplantation is a common and significant complication. This is influenced by: the kidney function prior to transplantation, patient demographics, acute renal failure in the perioperative period and exposure to the calcineuryn inhibitors in the posttransplant period. The aim of this study is to present the problem of renal failure in heart transplant recipients and the role of nurses in the care of the patient in the risk of renal failure as well as with renal failure.
