Psychological help for hemodialysis patients — example of cooperation between the university and the dialysis station

Abstract

The aim of the article is to demonstrate the cooperation between the Department of Psychology of University of Wroclaw and Fresenius Nephrocare Dialysis Center in Wroclaw. Psychology students (supervised by Doctors of Psychology) provided a psychological support for patients and dialysis center workers. The inspiration for this project were a psychological difficulties observed in a group of patients. These problems are described in the first part of the article. This article analyzes solutions, which were developed in Dialysis Center and shows their strengths and weaknesses. These solutions could be a indication for further cooperation, which could be applied in other Dialysis Center.
