Abstract

Polish Society of Nephrology presents its own position statement paper on the anaemia management in patients with chronic kidney disease based on the guidelines prepared by Kidney Disease Improving Global Outcomes (KDIGO), European Renal Association-European Dialysis and Transplant Association (ERA-EDTA) and some other societies. In this position statement paper the diagnosis and management of anaemia, including therapy with iron, erythropoiesis stimulating agents (ESAs) in non-dialysis and dialysis patients CKD (chronic kidney disease) and renal transplant recipients are described. Additionally, resistance to ESAs and the current methods used to improvement of ESAs responsiveness are discussed. The large part of this paper is dedicated to the modern aspects of blood transfusion in patients with chronic kidney disease.
