Abstract

In 83-year old man with at least 10 years anamnesis of chronic congestive heart failure of ischemic etiology (NYHA class IV from September, 2014) and decreasing glomerular filtration rate with developing cardiorenal syndrome type 2, the resistance to diuretic therapy was observed. Due to increasing overhydration (body mass gain of 28.5 kg during 2 months) and worsening of clinical status we decided to start continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis urgently. As a result of therapy, we achieved significant reduction of overhydration (body mass loss app. 16 kg) and a significant improvement of clinical status with higher life quality and physical activity. During 4 months we observed an improvement of cardiac function to NYHA class III/II and left ventricle ejection fraction from 25% to 30–35%.
