Abstract

Patients with epilepsy often suffer from depression. Depression has a negative impact on epilepsy, and treatment of
depression can reduce the frequency of seizures. As some antidepressants can lower the convulsive threshold, it is important
to choose the adequate treatment. The aim of the article is to approach this complex neurological and psychiatric
problem with a focus on the mechanisms, safety and efficacy of pharmacotherapy.
