Abstract

The article presents current problems of people with dual diagnosis - diagnose of mental illness and alcohol and/or other substance dependence. Complexity of this illness causes difficulties in pharmacological treatment and psychotherapy, these patients are considered to have worse prognosis. Dual diagnosis people tend to have social life difficulties and probably are socially discriminated. In this work an overview of present therapy conceptions has been presented. At present, integrated treatment - focused on psychiatric disorder and addiction treatment is considered to be the most effective. The article involves description of our current work experience in Dual Diagnosis Unit.
