Psychiatria 2007;4(2):60-68.
Abstract
This thesis aims at presenting methods and therapeutic effects in the treatment of psychotic disorders, basing on the cognitive behavioural approach.
Following applications of cognitive behavioural therapy are presented in this article:
1. Therapy focused on:
- improving the functioning of patients with persistent psychotic symptoms,
- reducing psychotic sensations,
- improving insight and/or compliance,
- coping with imperative voices (hallucinations).
2. Applying therapy in specific groups of psychotic patients:
- suffering from chronic illness,
- during the first episode of psychosis,
- in an acute phase of psychosis.
Many of presented researches are pioneering, usually conducted in small groups of patients so it is necessary to broaden the groups in order to increase the credibility of results.
