Abstract

The purpose of this article is to present cognitive concepts on panic disorder as well as to review studies concerning attentional bias in the processing of threatening stimuli by patients suffering from panic disorder. It has been indicated, that anxiety related conditions are related to selective processing of information and a learned tendency to focus on only some stimuli - particularly those that are negative.
