Streszczenie
Przez lata lekarze udoskonalali i unowocześniali techniki otwarcia jamy brzusznej. W 1900 roku ukazała się przełomowa
praca Hermanna Pfannenstiela, opisująca nową metodę. Zamiast powszechnie stosowanego podłużnego otwarcia
jamy brzusznej lekarz zaproponował otwarcie poprzeczne, wiążące się nie tylko z mniejszą ilością powikłań, ale również
z lepszym efektem kosmetycznym. Obecnie nacięcie sposobem Pfannenstiela jest jedną z najczęściej stosowanych
metod otwarcia powłok brzusznych.
