Breast is the best — czyli co każdy ginekolog o karmieniu piersią wiedzieć powinien

Streszczenie

Mleko matki jest optymalnym i najlepszym sposobem karmienia niemowląt rekomendowanym przez wszystkie liczące się towarzystwa naukowe. Udowodniono długoterminowe korzyści wynikające z karmienia piersią zarówno dla dzieci, jak i dla ich matek. Niezaprzeczalny jest również korzystny aspekt ekonomiczny i społeczny wiążący się z karmieniem naturalnym. Lekarze położnicy i neonatolodzy mają obowiązek uświadamiania kobietom, że naturalny pokarm jest bardziej wartościowy niż mleko modyfikowane. Celem poniższego artykułu jest zaktualizowanie i pogłębienie wiedzy lekarzy opiekujących się kobietami w wieku prokreacyjnym na temat karmienia piersią, a także omówienie wielu zagadnień i problemów z nim związanych oraz obalenie mitów dotyczących karmienia piersią.
