Streszczenie

Cor triatriatum sinister (CTS) is a rare congenital heart defect. Clinical presentation depends on several factors and may vary from severe circulatory failure to a completely asymptomatic course. Although numerous complications of the defect are known, some cases may be diagnosed incidentally and have no clinical implications. In this case report, two patients with CTS diagnosed during adulthood are described. The first patient has been admitted to the hospital for oncological treatment and has been consulted by a cardiologist before planned surgery. During the cardiological examination, an intraatrial structure corresponding with CTS was found. In this patient, the diagnosis of the congenital heart defect did not result in a modification of the treatment, as it was classified as an incidental, asymptomatic finding. The second patient was referred for a cardiology assessment after her pulmonologist suspected angina. Diagnostic tests have been performed, and coronary ischaemia has been excluded. However, CTS has been diagnosed with ultrasonography. The diagnosis of CTS did not influence the further therapeutic process in both patients.
