Abstract

Modern methods of hypotensive treatment in both adults and children besides pharmacoterapy include lifestyle modifications, which are the integral part of nonpharmacological treatment. These lifestyle modifications include reduction and stabilization of body mass, enhanced physical activity, increased consumption of fruits and vegetables and reduction of saturated fatty acids and total fat intake (DASH diet), reduction in sodium intake, smoking cessation. These approaches are play important role not only in the prevention of hypertension but also in the therapy. In this review nonpharmacological methods of hypotensive treatment in children and adolescents are presented and discussed.
