Abstract

INTRODUCTION. The condition of body nutrition is a result of dietary habits, absorption and utilization of nutritional components and social-economic factors effect.
MATERIAL AND METHODS. The survey covers 866 children aged 10–12 (492 girls and 374 boys) from randomly chosen primary schools in Białystok in 2010–2011. On the basis of body mass index (BMI) factor, children were divided into two groups, the first group constitutes from children with proper body mass, altogether 617 people (358 girls and 259 boys), the second group constitutes from children with excessive body mass, altogether 228 (113 girls and 115 boys). Also selected social-economic factors were analysis in the evaluation, i.e. the amount of siblings and parents education. The daily food rations were evaluated by the last 24 hours consumption method. The received results were compared with norms of the estimated average requirement (EAR) for each age and gender group. In statistic evaluation of received results, the computer programme Statistica 9 was used.
RESULTS. The conducted surveys shows that energetic value of children food rations with excessive body mass was higher than children with proper body mass. The analysing food rations demonstrates too high protein supply in general and animal protein in every groups irrespective of gender and nutritional state as well as fat in the group of children with excessive body mass. Too low in relation of recommendation of fiber consumption were noted down in each evaluated groups.
CONCLUSIONS. The results of taken surveys obtained the necessity of introduction of health education in schools concerning proper dietary habits, which aimed the reduction of development civilization diseases risk.
