Abstract

Obesity is a problem becoming a world epidemic. Some studies have shown a relationship between fertility and lifestyle regulating all stages of the female reproductive system, from conception to childbirth and confinement. Maintaining a healthy weight can help to improve hormone profile, restore ovulations, increase the chances of conception and reduce the risk of pregnancy complications. This current review summarizes data concerning the interrelation between weight and female fertility. There are also convincing data suggesting that both female underweight and overweight have a negative influence on the reproductive system.
