The relation between depression and diabetes
Diabetologia Praktyczna 2004;5(3):143-145.
Abstract
Diabetes is associated with an increased prevalence
of depression. Depressed patients with diabetes have
been shown to have poorer glycemic control and
a higher incidence of microvascular and macrovascular
complications. Reports of treatment of depression
have demonstrated the benefits of depression
remission on glycemic control as well for improvement
in the course and outcome of diabetes.
