Abstract

Because of the diabetes pandemic, poor metabolic control, low social awareness of the disease and its consequences, efforts are made to improve the management of diabetes to achieve better therapeutic outcomes. The criteria are defined in international guidelines that are modified by scientific societies in individual countries.
The Changing Diabetes Project is an international project taking into account many aspects of diabetes management. This project with the important goals that can and should change the course of history called diabetes mellitus will be implemented in Poland thanks to the support of clinicians and scientists, approval by international bodies, efforts of family physicians and diabetologists and financial and organizational support by the company Novo Nordisk which undertakes this challenge for the first time. The first part of the paper defines the assumptions and goals of the project. The second part will describe the Polish project of improving glycemia control.
