Nowadays diabetes is more often mentioned as a cause of male infertility. There are 400.000 men over the age of 20 years who suffer from diabetes in Poland. It is estimated that every second man who reports having erectile dysfunction has diabetes. The most often mentioned fertility disturbances in the course of diabetes are: impotence, disorders of testis function, decreased ability to fertilize and retrograde ejaculation. Because the growing morbidity, earlier occurrence of diabetes and more often putting decision of having babies aside in time, metabolic disturbances in diabetes may become one of more frequent causes of fertility disorders in men.
