Abstract

Consensus of the American Diabetes Association (ADA) and the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) clearly states that individualization of treatment, at least partially based on considering the clinical profi le of patients, is crucial for the effectiveness of undertaken medical activities. Finding the optimal therapy is not easy, mainly due to the number of potential insulin therapy regimens, insulin formulations, and most of all clinical variety of patients. This publication is a summary of the discussion between authors on the above subject. It is based on the results of both randomized, controlled clinical trials, as well as reference documentation of individual insulin formulations.
