Abstract

Despite progress in the diagnosis and management ofdiabetes acute hyperglycemic states are still currenttheme in diabetology. In the clinical statements in differentcountries the recommendation at diagnosis andmanagement of diabetic ketoacidosis and hyperglycemic-hyperosmolar state are not consistent. Discrepancyare present because there are not suffi cient evidence inclinical trials (EBM) and the knowledge is often basedon experience of experts in this subject. This paper iseffort of the comparison of twenty-years experienceof authors in the management of hyperglycemic emergenciesin adults with data from review of literature.
