Diabetologia Praktyczna 2011;12(3):90-95.
Abstract
The aim of the ARATAEUS1 study was to evaluate
the treatment of patients with newly diagnosed
type 2 diabetes in Poland and to estimate the
proportion of patients achieving therapeutic goals
recommended by Polish Diabetes Association. The
ARETAEUS1 study revealed that late diabetes
complications were already present at diagnosis in
50% of study population — 38% of patients had
macrovascular and 22% microvascular complications.
This paper discusses the findings from ARETAEUS1
study and suggests strategies to improve treatment
results.
