Abstract

This paper presents two cases of streptococcal toxic shock syndrome (STSS) after an inguinal hernioplasty and a goiter subtotal resection. These serious complications of surgery were treated in our Intensive Care Ward. An epidemiological investigation did not reveal the source of infection. STSS elimination was achieved by antimicrobial procedures and prophylaxis.
