Abstract

Preparations of micronized purified flavonoid fraction (MPFF) are used in the therapy of chronic venous disease for thirty years. Clinical studies using twice daily 500 mg regiment revealed that MPFF formulation is improving leg oedema, sensation of heaviness, calf cramps and pain, accelerates the healing of venous ulcers, and brings a quality of life improvement in patients with chronic venous disease. However, recently a 1000 mg formulation for administration once daily was produced. This article presents the state of knowledge on the absorption, metabolism and elimination of MPFF and few studies performed with the use of once-daily formulations.
