Abstract

From among 13 096 patients treated in 330 offices of primary care physicians in 33 Vascular Diseases Treatment Centres the authors have selected 2269 patients who declared to have been treated with 2 × 500 mg Diosminex for 120 days. A statistically significant improvement was observed during the 120 days of observation of the regressions of all the symptoms of a chronic venous disease (swelling 68.2% vs 21.0%, hevyness 72.9% vs 15.7%, cramps 59.3% vs 9.1%). An increased compliance concernig an imlementation of the compression stocking therapy was also observed in the study group. An objective result of the micronized diosmin treatment was a decrease of the cural circumefernce (at the ankle level 0.8–0.9 cm). An unexpected outcome of the study was the diagnosis of peripheral atheromatosis in more than 11% of the patients who were consciously treating their chronic vascular disease.
