Adventitial cystic degeneration of the popliteal artery as a seldom cause of lower leg ischemia at a young age
open access
Abstract
The study presents the case of lower limb ischemia due to adventitial cystic degeneration of the popliteal artery in young men. The pathogenesis of this disease is not clear and several theories which explain its origin are present. This seldom disease can be the reason of leg ischemia in young age. The contrast-anhanced computed tomography and duplex sonography play the main role in diagnostics. In advanced stage of disease basic treatment is the vascular bypass with best use of vein bypass.
