Abstract

Over a half of stroke survivors require partial or full help from other people. Caregiving of stroke patients results in severe physical and psychological burden which is evaluated with the help of objective and subjective indicators. Various concepts of burden and methods of measuring this phenomenon have been presented in this paper. Moreover, an overview of empirical researches on the burden was presented, with a special consideration of factors determining a level of the burden both from the side of a caregiver and a patient.
