Phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitors - similarities and differences

Abstract
Inhibitors of phosphodiesterase-5 are the agebts of thefirst projection in ED treatment. Nowadays the three
drugs of this group are being appplied: Sildenafil (Viagra), Vardenafil (Levitra) oraz Tadalafil (Cialis). The
author compares these three drugs, basing on the literature. The most studied and the richest literature
has Sildenafil. The chemical stucture and period of activity differs these three agents. The drugs action
mechanism is the same for every drug. Vardenafils accuracy is 85% in 20 mg dose (moderate ED) and 39%
with deep ED. it is also the agest, which can be used when there is no response for Slidenafil. Tadalafil’s
accuracy was 87% in 20 mg and Sildenafil 83%. The studies showed different patient preferences in choosing
the drug: 17.4% preffers Sildenafil, 43% Vardenafil, 39% Tadalafil. All agents are effective in
diabetes.
