Imaging diagnostic of brain tumors. Part I - neuroepithelial tumors
Onkol. Prak. Klin 2007;3(4):177-197.
Abstract
Focusing on neuroepithelial tumors (mainly gliomas) the author describes CT and MR image of brain
tumors. Both methods are the diagnostic gold standard in neurooncology. MR is particularly important in
diagnosing and differentiation. This method gives opportunity to assess structure, function, biochemical
profile and molecular structure (in the nearest future). Furthermore, on the basis of MR modern stereotactic
surgery and conventional neurosurgery can be performed in a more sparing manner.
The author concentrates on typical features of brain tumors in CT and MR. In the following chapters of this
study mesenchymal tumors and tumor's recurrence are presented.
